NO CLASS JULY 6
Students will develop their fine motor skills while enjoying the medium of clay. Instructor Sherrie Styx will teach bowl building, creative sculpting, and glazing techniques.
Students will learn a wide variety of techniques to create forms, including coil, slab, press molds and wheel throwing. Jennifer Zona will teach students to combine these techniques to make representational and non-representational artworks.
Try a little bit of everything in this sampler class with Keith Stevens. Drawing, painting, clay, and felting projects will be introduced to give young artists a chance to find their favorite medium.
Students will do a little bit of everything in this Summer-themed art camp. Instructor Emily McKenna will introduce drawing, painting and sculpture projects that depict summer scenes and characters!
Want to be a cartoonist? Instructor Keith Stevens will teach you how to create characters using simple but expressive lines and shapes, develop stories with a beginning, middle and end, and create eye-catching covers.
Campers will want to dress for mess, because action painting involves dripping, flinging, and smearing paint on large surfaces. Campers will even blow bubbles of water-based paint to create fascinating layered images.
Taking inspiration from Salvador Dalí, Rene Magritte and other Surrealist artists, campers will create dream-like drawings and paintings that boggle the mind. Campers will play with logic and distort reality by juxtaposing images and using silhouettes.
Find yourself in an animated, imaginary world. Special effects apps on ipads and green screens will transport you to mars or into an amazing super hero. Instructor Keith Stevens will help you bring your coolest adventure to life in animations and photographs.
Inspired by award-winning picture books, campers will develop their own characters, setting, and plot to create an original storybook with instructor Sherri Baun! Laminated covers and plastic binding will make for a professional look.
While the Sculpting Community project is under construction on the KAC grounds this summer, campers will create their own exciting construction project in the artlab gallery. Using cardboard and make-do fasteners, campers will create buildings, structures and vehicles that benefit communities of the future. Artist Keith Stevens will help campers work collaboratively and individually.
Become a giant in a small world, or a tiny creature in a big world! Campers will use traditional drawing and painting media to create backgrounds, and then use iPads and greenscreens to transport themselves into strange, scale-shifting worlds. Final images will be printed on 11x17 photo paper.
Fiber artist Dani Davis will teach needle and wet felting techniques to create colorful characters, landscapes, and abstract designs. Students will leave with 1 colorful felt painting and several felted sculptures.
Explore the color wheel and all the possibilities in this multi-media class. From primary to secondary colors, printing to painting, rocks to ribbons, this class will delight the imagination.
EXTRA GLAZE DAY: AUGUST 3, 1-3 PM
Learn the basics of clay including pinch, coil, slab, and glazing! Instructor Emily McKenna will introduce techniques as campers create funny characters and functional objects. A glaze-day is scheduled the following week to add color and shine to fired clay projects.
Campers combine their favorite animals to create brand-new species, complete with names, environments and characteristics! Instructor Emily McKenna will help campers depict their invented creatures in drawings, paintings, and sculptures.
